One of the first works of artistic theory by an Englishman. ESTC t135916.

Copy Notes Inscribed in ink on front paste-down endpaper 2 Vol 12/. The title-page inscribed in ink 155 on either side of the author's name. Possibly sharing its provenance with the copy of Richardson's Account of the statues, bas-reliefs, drawings, and pictures in Italy, France, &c, 2nd edition, 1754 (q.v.) with which this work is uniformly bound, and with one of the copies of his Two discourses, 1725 (q.v.), both having the title-pages similarly inscribed.

Binding C18th sprinkled calf, gilt-rule borders, red morocco label and numeral 2 direct-lettered in gilt on spine. Bound uniformly as volume 2 with Richardson's Account of the statues, bas-reliefs, drawings and pictures, 1754.
