With the half title-page reading: 'Supplement To The Hon. Horace Walpole's Anecdotes of Painters and Engravers', and divisional title-pages to the three works. This edition of Richardson's Works exists in two states, one with with 'Printed at Strawberry-Hill' at the head of the Strawberry Hill title-page vignette and the imprint beginning 'B. White' (ESTC t52772); the other with the imprint as here and the title-page and dedication leaf as a cancel bifolium. Not in fact printed at Strawberry Hill. ESTC n25732; Hazen, p. 65.

Copy Notes Imperfect; wanting the divisional title-page to 'The Theory of Painting' and the engraved portrait of Reynolds to face the dedication. With a pen and ink portrait of Jonathan Richardson, taken "From an Etching by Himself" by John Jackson, bound in to face the title-page. A pencil portrait of Mrs Soane (?) on the verso of the front free-endpaper, possibly also drawn by John Jackson who painted the posthumous portrait of Mrs Soane (1831) in the museum. Occasional pencil marginalia. Rear pastedown inscribed in pencil yr / £1.6-0.

Binding Late C18th mottled calf, gilt roll-tool borders, gilt-tooled spine, black spine-label.
