Drop-head title. Includes descriptive list of all the plates so far published - i.e. 187 of a promised 300 - which suggests that this undated prospectus dates from about half way through the course of publication. The completed work, promised within two years, was to consist of three folio volumes of plates and five octavo volumes of text, the former issued in livraisons of five plates each and the latter at a volume a time. The price of the completed work is here set at 500 francs, the subscription price being 8 francs 35 cents per livraison, or 15 and 24 francs per livraison for large paper copies ('Papier vélin Nom-de-Jésus' or 'grand colombier').

Copy Notes Inscribed in ink at the head of p.[1] M. Rifaud Bernard Street Russell Square 40. The work was not acquired by Soane, nor is Soane known to have taken up Rifaud's offer, in an accompanying letter dated 23rd May 1833 from 40 Bernard Street / Russell Square, to bring round to Lincoln's Inn Fields drawings and descriptions of the highly interesting objects of Antiquity which I am willing to dispose of, and which are well worthy of a place in your Collection. The letter, loosely inserted, is addressed on the final verso to Soane with blue and red postmarks, the latter dated 24 M[a]y.

Binding Stitched.
