The 'Libraires Associés' are listed on the verso of the half-title to vol. I as: Valleyre pere, Ganeau, Bailly, Debure fils jeune, D'Houry pere, Veuve Savoye, Cavelier, Desprez, Hérissant le fils, De Hansy jeune, Durand, Saillant, Nyon, Delormel, Desaint, Panckoucke. The bifolium paginated [i--iii], jv in vol. I, containing a dedication to the Marquis de Marigny and a preface, is not present in all copies and appears to have been suppressed shortly after publication or possibly after Marigny's death in 1781. The author was the architect of the theatre at Metz. Soane made extensive extracts from the 'A' section of the Dictionnaire (some abridged or translated) in a notebook dated on the spine 179[0?] (Soane Case 141). BAL, Early printed books.

Copy Notes Copy 1: With notes in the margins in ink and pencil, in English and French, in Soane's hand and another. Volume I inscribed in pencil on front free-endpaper Architectural Terms/ Explained in 6 Languages/ & 100 useful Plates placed at End and with bookseller's cyphers in pencil on the rear free-endpaper. Probably the copy bought from Thomas Boone for 18s., 29 December 1815. (Spiers Box).
Copy 2: 28.7 cm. With a few pencil notes in the margins in Joseph Bonomi's hand.

Binding Copy 1: C18th catspaw sponged calf, gilt -tooled spine compartments, red and green morocco spine-labels.
Copy 2: C18th mottled calf, gilt-tooled spines, maroon morocco spine-labels.
