With plates engraved by G. B. Piranesi, and the pensionnaires at the French Academy in Rome, J. L. Le Geay and F. P. Duflos. These had previously been published by G. L. Barbielli in Roma moderna distinta per rioni, Rome, 1741, and F. Amidei in Varie vedute di Roma, Rome, 1745. Soane also owned the second (q.v.), third and eighth editions of this popular traveller's guide to Rome.
