A presentation copy inscribed in ink on fourth front free-endpaper To/ Sir John Soane/ Professor of Architecture/ in the/ Royal Academy/ & & & &./ with the best wishes/ of the/ President & Council/ of the/ Scottish Academy/ of/ Painting Sculpture & Architecture/ Edinburgh 7 December 1836. With a covering letter dated 7 December 1837 [sic] inserted at the front, addressed to Soane by David Octavius Hill, secretary of the Scottish Academy, in which he describes its contents and requests Soane's acceptance of the gift.

Binding C19th calf, roll-tool and double-rule borders in gilt and blind, gilt-tooled spine, pale yellow imitation-silk endpapers.
