Sandrart specialized in the production for the German market of architectural books copied, often (as here) without acknowledgement, from originals published in Italy and elsewhere. The plates in the present work are largely copied from P. Ferrerio, Palazzi di Roma, 1670 or later (q.v.); J. Blaeu, Theatrum civitatum ... Italiae, Amsterdam 1663; Villa Pamphilia, Rome [n.d.] (q.v.); G.G. de' Rossi, Disegni di vari altari e cappelle nelle chiese di Roma, [n.d.] (q.v.). BAL, Early printed books, no. 2894.

Copy Notes Imperfect; wanting plates VI--IX. Inscribed in ink on rear paste-down at top x 7 and at bottom No; 33 No: trentatre.

Binding C17th vellum, red and black gilt-tooled morocco spine-labels, incorrectly giving the date of publication as 1694.
