Gigault de La Salle.Volume 4, p. [6] numbered '106' and p. [8] '50'. The plates in vol. 4 are numbered I--LXXIII (Architecture) and I--XLVIII (Sculpture) and vol. 6 continues the vol. 5 sequence, i.e. pl.CXIV--CCIV (Painting). The irregular pagination was caused by the publishers' decision to rearrange the sheets of the original 24 livraisons before re-issuing them as a complete work in six volumes. Seroux d'Agincourt had died after only a few livraisons of his magnum opus had appeared, and a small team of editors prepared the rest of the manuscript for print (see 'Préface.', vol. 1).
