The dedication to the Earl Temple signed 'B. Seeley' who, together with W. Fairchild, drew the plates. First published as A description of the gardens of Lord Viscount Cobham, at Stow in Buckinghamshire, Northampton, 1744 (ESTC t68770). See J. Harris, Country house index, 1979, p. 43 and the notes to BAL, Early printed books, no. 2952 (1769 ed.). Soane also owned the corrected 1817 quarto edition (q.v.). ESTC n64074.
