The first combined issue of The four seasons was published in 1730. The engravings are dated 1792-1798. The plates and pages in Soane's copy do not correspond to the printed list of the engravings. Tomkins's Angel striking the silver lyre, listed as a vignette, is printed as a plate in this copy. With a list of subscribers. ESTC t146637.
Binding C19th diced russia, gilt-ruled and tooled borders of Greek key pattern and scrolled foliage with gilt-tooled anthemion and leaf corners, gilt-tooled greek key turn-ins, edges of boards tooled in bellflower design, gilt-tooled spine. With the orange binder's label of 'C. Kalthoeber, London', pasted down on the verso of the front free-endpaper.
