This anonymous translation was made from the second edition of Claude Perrault's Abrégé (Amsterdam '1681' [actually 1691]). It includes a copy by Jan Kip of the reduced version in that edition of Sebastien Le Clerc's frontispiece for Perrault's original 1673 folio translation. Folding leaf bears illus. X and XI with letterpress explanations. See Harris and Savage 891; BAL, Early printed books, no. 3537; ESTC r19317.

Copy Notes With leaf L8 uncancelled. Severely cropped with some loss at edges, illus. VI--IX being particularly affected. Front free-endpaper inscribed in pencil 7.6.

Binding Later C19th half green roan, brown paper boards, gilt double-rule spine.
