This is the second Italian version of Perrault's abridgement of Vitruvius first published as Abregé des dix livres d'architecture de Vitruve in 1674 (q.v.), and is based on the first Italian translation made in 1711 by Conte Carlo Cattaneo. With a dedication to Sir James Campbell of Belluno. The engraved frontispiece is printed on the recto of the first leaf [*1]. BAL, Early printed books, no. 3541.
Copy Notes One of Soane's two editions of Barbaro's Vitruvius (the present abridgement of the copy of the 1556 Venice edition, q.v.) was bought for 12s. from J. Taylor on 27 August 1805. (Spiers Box, Taylor, Priestley & Weale).
Binding C19th panelled calf, blind-tooled spine, red morocco spine-label.
