With a list of subscribers. One of twenty-five large paper copies, nineteen of which (including the present copy) had been subscribed for by the time the list of subscribers (pp. ix--xiv) went to press. Gwilt's edition remained the standard English-language edition of Vitruvius for the remainder of the nineteenth century. BAL, Early printed books, no. 3508.
Copy Notes Large paper copy, uncut. Presumably the copy sent to Soane with a letter dated 15 October 1825 from the bookseller John Weale: ... Mr. Gwilt this morning selected out of the 25 copies of his Vitruvius the best copy as to impressions & I now send it. This the large paper was subscribed at 3.3.0 it is now risen to 5.5.0 although not yet published all the copies have been taken. (Spiers Box, Miscellaneous folder 10).
