Volumes I--III first published at Strawberry Hill in 1762. Volume IV containing 'The History of The Modern Taste in Gardening' was printed in 1771 but not published until October 1780. Referenced in Soane's lectures V, quoting Lord Hervey on his villa at Chiswick, and IX. (See Watkin, Soane, pp. 563, 564, 643.) Horizontal chain lines. ESTC t63191; not in Hazen.
Binding C18th calf, gilt-tooled spines with red and green morocco labels. Uniformly bound with A Catalogue of engravers, 1782 (q.v.).
