Single word drop-heading followed by opening of text of prospectus as above, signed and dated at end 'Le Chevalier De Wiebeking, ...', 'Munich en Bavière, dans le mois de février 1728' [recte 1827]. The price to subscribers for the first five volumes is advertised at 71 florins (or 13 ducats in Italy and 163 francs in France) per volume for large paper copies and 50 florins (or 9 ducats and 115 francs) for ordinary copies 'sur papier format Grand-Jesus'. The sixth and any subsequent volumes were to be given to subscribers gratis. This French edition of Wiebeking's treatise on Theoretisch-praktische bürgerliche-Baukunde, 4 volumes, 1821--1826, ran in fact to seven volumes issued from 1827 to 1831 as Architecture civile théorique et pratique (see BAL, Early printed books, no. 4181). With details of other publications by the author in French and German listed on p. [4]. Soane had acquired the French translation of selections from Wiebeking's writings on hydraulics (1810, q.v.) in 1814, but was not apparently induced to add the work advertised to his library.

Copy Notes On p.[2] of this copy en Italie has been added in ink between the words 'jours' and 'en France' in line 10, and the date at the end has been corrected to read 1827. At the top of p. [1] there is also inscribed in ink by a different hand On Sale at Mess^rs. Longmans Co / Vols 1 & 2 / £11..11-0 / 14 Nov^r 1828.
