Lincoln Cathedral. The public is respectfully informed, that an illustration of the architecture of the cathedral church of Lincoln, on sixteen plates, in size 12 by 10 inches, engraved ... by Messrs. Lowry; H. Le Kieux [sic]; Byrne; Finden; Noble; Pye; J. Skelton; Turrell and Woolnoth, from drawings by Charles Wild, and accompanied by an historical and descriptive account of the fabric, printed by Bulmer, in atlas quarto, is now preparing for publication, ...

Half-sheet, folded, verso of first leaf and conjugate leaf blank. Drop-head title with text dated at end 'June 18th, 1814.'. The price to subscribers was set at five guineas a copy in boards, or ten guineas 'for Proofs, of which only 100 will be taken on Large Paper, to class with the Large Paper Copies of the new Edition of Dugdale's Monasticon, and the Vetusta Monumenta.' In the event this installment of Charles Wild's cathedral series was not published until 1819 (see BAL, Early printed works, no. 3640), no doubt due to the success and superior quality of John Britton's rival cathedral series which had commenced publication in 1814 (q.v.).
Copy Notes Originally folded as a letter, the recto of the second leaf inscribed in ink Sir // In addressing to you the accompanying / Advertisements, I take the liberty also to mention / that it is my intention to give Lessons on practical / Perspective, adapted particularly to the uses of / Architects, on Tuesday & Friday Evenings during the Winter, & that I shall feel greatly obliged by the / favour of your recommendation when any of your / Pupils require Instruction - // I am / Sir / respectfully / Your hble Sert. / Charles Wild / 159 New Bond Street / Novr. 8. 1814 - / John Soane Esqre.
