An earlier work on Canterbury had been published in 1807.

Copy Notes Wanting the tissue guards. The author's 'Advertisement' dated June 1, 1809 (q.v.) is tipped in at the front, announcing that having completed his illustrations of the cathedrals of Canterbury and York, he would not continue with his plan to illustrate the rest of the cathedrals until he was assured of 200 subscriptions. The 'Advertisement' inscribed in ink Per of Imp: Subscribers copy price 3/13/6. This is probably the 'Wilde's York Cathedral fo[lio]' bought from Thomas Boone for 18s. on 16 June 1818. (Priv. Corr. XVI.E.3.9).

Binding Original C19th quarter white paper, grey paper boards, the upper cover with a printed label reading 'Wild's Select Views Of York Cathedral. Proof Impressions - Price Three Guineas and Half. Subscriber's Copy.'
