A continuation surveying the cathedrals of Lincoln, Ely, Oxford and Peterborough was published in 1730 (q.v.). Many copies, as here, are bound in two volumes with the half-title-leaf inserted between Ccc4 and Ddd1 to act as title-leaf to the second volume, a division apparently intended by Willis who refers to "my two last Volumes of Cathedrals" in the errata to the continuation volume (p. 541). The verso of the half-title contains a list of 'Books printed for R. Gosling ...' and more advertisements are printed at the foot of the final page of the work. BAL, Early printed books, no. 3668; ESTC t93608.

Copy Notes Pages v--viii of the preface misbound in volume II. Traces of the removal of an earlier bookplate underneath Soane's.

Binding C18th undyed goatskin, gilt rule borders, gilt-tooled spine, gilt edges. Bound as vols I and II of a set of three volumes with the author's continuation of the work Survey of the cathedrals of Lincoln, Ely, Oxford, and Peterborough, 1730 (q.v.).
