First published 1794--1803. Volume I with inserted note by Bailey quoting the description of the first edition of Museum Worsleyanum in the catalogue of the sale of the Stow library by Leigh and Sotheby in 1849, lot 5768: '... Sir R Worsley is said to have expended £27,000 in collecting materials for this work - it is believed that not more than 50 Copies of the Plates were worked off, that Sir Richard never distributed more than 27 Copies also that he paid £200 for a Copy to the Exe[cuto]rs of a Gentleman to whom he had presented one.' Descriptive text in English and Italian.

Copy Notes Soane's copy of the second edition was bought from T. & W. Boone for 9 guineas on 20 February 1826, the high price no doubt reflecting the morocco binding. (Spiers Box).

Binding C19th black morocco, gilt-ruled (two thin, one thick, two thin) and thick blind-ruled borders with rose motif gilt corner-pieces, thick blind-ruled gilt-tooled spines, gilt edges, silk bookmarks.
