Large paper copy. With parallel titles and text in French. India paper proofs. Young, mezzotintist to His Majesty and Keeper of the British Institution, was also the author of catalogues of the Grosvenor, Leicester, Miles and Stafford collections, all illustrated with his own engravings. John Julius Angerstein was an insurance broker and art connoisseur who moved in artistic and literary circles; thirty-eight pictures from his collection were purchased by the government and formed the basis for the newly established National Gallery.

Copy Notes Imperfect; wanting pl. [5] and [14]. Bought from the author for 6 guineas in 1823. (Priv. Corr. XVI.E.5.3).
