See the notes to BAL, Early printed books, no. 3739 regarding a possible connection between the present work and the post-1778 edition of Antonio Maria Zanetti's Varie pitture a fresco de' principali maestri Veneziani (q.v.) suggested by a copy of both works in the British Library.

Copy Notes Soane bought '2 Books of Prints by Zompini 2 Vols. bds.' from Thomas Boone for 14s. on 16 June 1806. (Spiers Box). Both copies of the present work now in the Museum are in bindings commissioned later by Soane, making it difficult to establish whether this refers to two copies, or a single copy originally bound in two volumes.
