Zucchi, Francesco (1692--1764)
[Teatro delle fabbriche più cospicue ... di Venezia]
Teatro delle fabbriche più cospicue in prospettiva, sì pubbliche, che private della città di Venezia.
[Venice]:, presso Giambatista Albrizzi q. Girolamo,, [c. 1740].
[2] p., [35] pl. (=41 impressions; 1 double-p. plan) ; 19.7 cm. (obl. 4°)

Anonymous. Most of the plates are signed 'F. Zucchi'; 3 are signed 'G. Filosi', i.e. Gioseffo Filosi (fl. 1732--1744); six leaves bear the impressions of two coppers. This is a collection of most of the small plates of 'vedute' from Albrizzi's popular guide to Venice, Forestiere illuminato, 1740 (q.v.), with an undated letterpress title-page, no doubt put together to exploit the publisher's stock of plates. Seven of the Forestiere plates are not present in this set and there are prints from three coppers not included in the Forestiere. The present volume must have been issued before the revised impression of the Forestiere illuminato also dated 1740 (q.v.), as the plates of the 'Dogana di Mare' and the 'Veduta de' S.Si. Gio. e Paolo, e Scuola di S. Marco' have the captions in the earlier states. A later issue of the Teatro delle fabbriche also in the Soane Museum (q.v.) includes a second volume of unsigned plates of private palaces, with new letterpress titles to both volumes and the captions to the above plates in the later states.

Copy Notes With an unidentified pencil sketch of neo-classical buildings in the margin of the plate of S. Marco.

Binding C18th marbled-paper boards backed in red paper.

Reference Number 3666

Additional Names Filosi, Gioseffo (fl.$1732--1744); Albrizzi, Giovanni Battista (1698--1777)
