First published 1833. Of Scribe's more than 350 stage-works, several of which furnished sources for the operatic stage of the 19th century, 'Bertrand et Raton' is considered to hold a place in the first rank of his works. It is set in Copenhagen of the era of Christian VII of Denmark, 1772.
Binding Later C19th half calf, blind-tooled borders, thick-thin gilt-ruled spine, brown morocco-grain book cloth boards, maroon and green spine-labels. Probably bound by George Richmond in or around 1853.
