A poetic adaptation of Sir Walter Scott's Ivanhoe. Dedication to John Soane on first page following the title signed 'Your affectionate and grateful Son, George Soane'. In 1819 Soane had accepted the post of supervisory architect to the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, where his son was employed as a writer. With a list of 'New Plays, Printed For John Lowndes, ...' on the verso of the half-title. Imprint of the printer, Joyce Gold, at foot of advertisements and on final page.

Copy Notes Inscribed by the author at the head of the half-title John Soane Esq. / Dedication Copy. / with the Author's Most respectful / Compliments, and at the foot, by Soane, Recd Saturday 11 March 1820. Bound (3) with Charles Dibdin Junior, The farmer's wife, 1814 (q.v.), another drama by George Soane, The peasant of Lucern, 1815 (q.v.), and James Haynes, Conscience, 1812 (q.v.).

Binding C19th half calf, blind double-ruled borders, marbled-paper boards, gilt-ruled spine.
