Volume II only of the translation of Mémoires de Louis XIV, écrits par lui-même, composés pour le grand Dauphin son fils, et adressés à ce prince; suivis de plusieurs fragments de mémoires militaires, ... et de diverses autres pièces inédites, edited by J.R.N. de Gain de Montagnac and originally published in Paris in 1806. Volume II includes (pp. 92--189): 'Military Memoirs', 'Correspondence ... with Philip V.', and other pieces. With an erratum leaf for the first volume preceding the title-page of the second. Imprint of 'Lewis, Printer' on the page facing the title-page and colophon. Advertisements for books 'Just published by J.F. Hughes' on the final leaf of vol. II.
Copy Notes Imperfect; wanting volume I. Stamp of 'Creighton's / Library, / 14, Tavistock Stt. / Covent Garden.' appears on endpapers, half-title verso, title-page verso and elsewhere; library label pasted onto verso of rear free-endpaper of 'James Creighton, / At his Circulating Library, / No. 14, Tavistock Street, / Covent Garden: ...' advertising the sale of stationery, bookbinding and book sales.
Binding C19th half calf, grey paper boards, spine with paper label with shelf-mark in ink, spine-title 'Lewis / XIV' and volume number direct-lettered in ink, and ink stamp 'Creighton', heavy paper endleaves.
