First edition. Probably printed in Paris. Falsely attributed to Abbé Prévost but in fact a work of fiction by the novelist and dramatist Paul Baret. In six books, each with separate half-title, title-page and register. The plates and their placements are described at the end of vol. VI. ESTC n9872.

Copy Notes Bound in three volumes; the plate for each book has been inserted in the position of frontispiece. Inscribed in ink on the title-pages of each volume Lucy Harpur. Inscribed in pencil on first front free-endpaper of the first volume 6 toms in 3 with bookseller's codes, probably in the hand of Thomas Boone.

Binding C18th sponged 'catspaw' calf, gilt-ruled spines, red morocco spine-labels.
