xxiv, 400, [16] p. ; 23.5 cm. (8º)

First edition. Imprint on verso of half-title 'Printed by J. Moyes'. Includes 'Apuleius On The God Of Socrates' and 'Apuleius On The Habitude Of The Doctrines Of Plato', and five leaves of 'Passages Suppressed' at the end of the text. Four final pages of 'Translations And Original Works, By T. Taylor' and publisher's advertisements at the end. Thomas Taylor, a Platonist philosopher and translator, had been assistant secretary to the Society of Arts from 1797 to 1806.

Copy Notes Inscription in ink on front free-endpaper John Soane, Esqr / With Mr. Moyes most / respectful Compliments / January 2, 1823. Moyes was the printer of several of Soane's own works and also one of the booksellers from whom Soane bought for his library.

Binding Original C19th publisher's grey-paper boards, printed paper spine-label giving the price '15s.'.
