The two-volume edition first appeared in 1640, with the engraved portrait of Jonson by Robert Vaughan. In the present edition the portrait of Jonson by William Elder printed as frontispiece on sig. A1v is copied from Robert Vaughan's plate. At the end is 'Leges Convivales. Rules For The Tavern Academy' (two leaves) with separate title-page and with imprint: London: printed for T. Bassett, 1692. The pagination omits pp. 265--280 and 383--392 but the text is continuous. ESTC r15282; Wing J1006.
Copy Notes Inscribed in ink on first pastedown M. Annesley. Dr Annesley was father of Francis Annesley, M.P. for Reading and first Master of Downing College.
