Statutes printed from Rastall's Edition (1621). Intended to be issued in eight volumes, the 'Advertisement' in vol. VIII on the verso opposite the title-page explains that 'the better to accommodate the purchasers of this work ... instead of concluding at the end of the Parliament 1761, as was at first proposed, have determined to continue it to the end of the last sessions. The ninth volume therefore will contain the third and fourth years of the present King ... [and] The Appendix, consisting of antient and curious statutes ... will make a seperate volume'. In fact, the Appendix is included at the end of vol. IX and the volume concludes 'End of the Ninth and Last Volume'. Volumes I--V, 1763, VI--VIII, 1764, IX, 1765. Subsequently another 9 volumes were published after Ruffhead's death in 1769 to continue the series to 1800, of which volumes X, 1771 (q.v.) and XI, 1774 (q.v.) are in Soane's library. Each volume has a separate title-page, including that to vol. I in addition to the general title-page, on which the title varies according to the volume's contents. Volume IX is in three parts, each with separate pagination and register, and includes a list of 'Such Of The Subscribers Names As Have Come To Hand' in the preliminaries. ESTC t134761 (vols I--VIII), ESTC t143093 (vol. IX).
