First edition. The first separate edition of Theocritus in English was published in 1684. Includes 'Some Account Of The Life And Writings Of Theocritus', and 'An Essay On Pastoral Poetry. By Edward Burnaby Greene'. The frontispiece portrait bust of Theocritus is by Charles Grignion from the collection of Fulvius Urbinus. Includes a list of subscribers. Signatures L2 and L3 are a cancel bifolium. ESTC t138182.
