Anonymous. By John Arbuthnot, M.D. With dedicatory verses to the King signed by the author's son 'Charles Arbuthnot, Student of Christ Church, Oxon'. The plates only, dedicated to Prince George of Denmark, were first published in about 1707 under the title Tables of Grecian, Roman, and Jewish measures, weights and coins reduced to the English standard With errata slip pasted on p. 327. Contents: A dissertation containing the principles and authorities upon which the tables are founded -- A dissertation of Roman money affairs -- A dissertation concerning the navigation of the ancients -- A dissertation concerning the doses of medicines given by ancient physicians. Copy Notes Copy 1: This is probably the copy bought at Lord Lyttelton's sale, 1--6 July 1823 (q.v.), 4th day, lot 82 together with a copy of Erasmus Darwin's The botanic garden, 1791 (q.v.), for £1 6s.
Copy 2: Probably the copy bought from Thomas Boone for 9s. on 24 December 1805 (paid 25 December 1806). (Spiers Box). First front free-endpaper inscribed in pencil =9s=/ -g-. With the printed errata slip pasted down on p. [6].

Binding Copy 1: Late 18th-century sprinkled calf, gilt rule-and-palmette borders, gilt-tooled spine, red spine-label, marbled edges and endpapers, navy blue silk bookmark.
Copy 2: Contemporary C18th Cambridge-style blind-panelled calf, gilt double-rule spine, red spine-label.
