Consists of correspondence in Italian and Latin between Bassi and Palladio, Vignola, Vasari, G.-B. Bertano and an unidentified 'Alfonso N.' on Bassi's controversy with Pellegrino Tibaldi about the plans for the Duomo in Milan, dated between 1 April and 20 September 1570.The first word of the title is set within a factotum woodcut head-piece. Woodcut printer's device on title-page and p. [54] imitating the Aldine dolphin and anchor. BAL, Early printed books, no. 219.

Binding C18th calf, blind-tooled inner borders, gilt double-ruled out borders, gilt-tooled spine with sunflower ornaments, black morocco spine-label.
