For the charlatanesque career of John Frost, who founded the Medico-Botanical Society of London in 1821, see the DNB. Frost's 1827 Oration is also in Soane's library (q.v.). Soane had been sent a prospectus of the Society (q.v.) with an invitation to join in July 1827 and received his certificate of membership dated 9th November 1827 in due course. (Archive V.D.6/2).
