Atwood developed his theory of arch construction in connection with a proposal for the improvement of the Port of London, which included an ambitious design submitted in 1800 by James Douglass and Thomas Telford for a new London Bridge. In 1804 Atwood published A supplement to a tract, entitled a treatise on ... arches as 'Part II.' (q.v.); this was doubtless offered both separately and with unsold copies of the Dissertation. Binding C19th diced maroon calf, gilt double-rule borders and spine, green spine-label. Bound by Edwin Hutchinson for 5s. on 27 June 1831. (Archive 7/15/8).
