Though Britton stated in his preface to 'Wells', 1824 (q.v.), that 'it is proposed to complete the History of Exeter Cathedral about Michaelmas next ...', 'Exeter' was not completed until after February 1827. BAL, Early printed books, no. 400.
Copy Notes A large paper copy with a full set of proof plates and 8 proofs before letters. It is bound (2) with the previous and next volumes in the series, The history and antiquities of ... Wells, 1824 (q.v.) and The history and antiquities of ... Peterborough, 1828 (q.v.).
Binding C19th half brown morocco, gilt ruled borders, marbled-paper boards. Bound (2) with Britton's Cathedral church of Wells (1824) and The abbey, and cathedral church of Peterborough (1828).
