Anonymous. A collection of small engraved views of Venice including most of the plates of 'vedute' from Albrizzi's popular and much-reprinted guide, the Forestiere illuminato, 1740 (q.v.), which were no doubt available separately as a way for Albrizzi to capitalize on his stock. Tome I consists of 50 unnumbered views of churches and public buildings printed on 46 leaves, most signed by F. Zucchi (i.e. Francesco Zucchi, 1692--1764). This volume includes most (but not all) of the plates in an earlier issue also in the Soane Museum (q.v.), but with the addition of 15 new plates printed on 14 leaves and a new letterpress title reflecting the expansion of the work into two volumes. Two of the plates are in the later state as found in the corrected impression of the 1740 edition of the Forestiere illuminato, also in the Soane (q.v.): the plate originally captioned 'Dogana di Mare' has been recaptioned to read 'Veduta della dogana di mare in faccia alla pescaria di S. Marco', and the plate originally captioned 'Veduta de' S.Si. Gio. e Paolo, e Scuola di S. Marco' has had the word 'Altra' added before. The present work also includes the plate with two images captioned 'Chiesa di S. Niccolò di Castello, e Seminario Ducale' and 'Monastero delle Cappuccine, e Chiesa di S. Antonio Ab. de' Canonici Reg. di Castello'. The plates in tom. II, devoted to private buildings and palaces, are unsigned.
