Two elevations of the triangular temple of the arts designed by Dumont in 1746 for his reception in the Academy of St Luke in Rome (plates [3] and [6]) are squared up in pencil probably by Soane for enlargement. Soane's interest in triangular plans is demonstrated in his designs for a mausoleum to James King in 1776, a royal palace in 1779, a classical dog kennel in 1779, and a lodge for Pellwall in 1822. The influence that Dumont's engraved works had upon him has yet to be explored.
