The invention could be inspected at Mr. Downer's, No. 153 Fleet Street or at Mr. Macnaughton's, No.76 Great Queen Street, Lincoln's Inn Fields, who were 'authorized by the Author to manufacture and sell it' (p. 14). Macnaughton was Soane's ironmonger. German was also the author of Great Britain triumphant. Containing a full explanation of a scheme for strengthening and invigorating the British Navy, and capturing the ships of war, and privateers of France, 1793.

Binding Late 18th-century half sprinkled calf, marbled-paper boards, gilt double-rule spine, red morocco spine-label lettered 'Fires'. Half bound by Edward Lawrence for 1s. 6d., 1802. (Spiers Box). Later numbered '98' in a series of pamphlet volumes.
