Thomas Keate was surgeon at Chelsea Hospital. Soane met him when he became surveyor of works at the hospital in 1807. This pamphlet followed publication of Keate's controversial Observations on the fifth report of the Commissioners of Military Enquiry, 1808 (q.v.).

Copy Notes Copy 1: With an upper white paper wrapper (?) inscribed with the Author's/ best Compliments. Bound (3) in a volume of miscellaneous pamphlets. Copy 2: 21.3 cm. Bound after Keate's Important official documents relative to the disagreements between the members of the late army medical board, 1810 (q.v.).

Binding Copy 1: C19th blue paper boards, brown paper spine lettered in ink 'Miscell:/ Pamphlets// Ramsay's/ Lectures// Keate's/ Observations// C/ Management/ of Houses of/ Correction. &c./ D'. Later numbered '88' in a series of pamphlet volumes.
