Laing was articled to Soane in 1790 and remained in his office until 1796. This is the first state with the author's address at the end of the preface, Thanet Place/Temple Bar/7, supplied in manuscript and plate 25 misnumbered 20; plate 6, which in some early states was misnumbered 7, is corrected here. The plates, printed in sepia, are engraved plans and aquatint elevations. BAL, Early printed books, no. 1715; ESTC t90189.
