A collection of poems (mainly in Latin with one in Persian, and one in Greek) by members of various Oxford colleges in commemoration of the George Monck, the first Duke of Albemarle who died in 1670. The dedication to Charles II is signed by Peter Mews, then vice-chancellor of Oxford University. Wing O880; ESTC r6066; Madan, III, 2844.
Copy Notes Heavily cropped at foot with loss of signature lines. Calligraphic flourishes in ink on final page. Bound (1) in a collection of poetry.
Binding C18th half sprinkled calf, marbled-paper boards, gilt-tooled spine, green morocco spine label gilt-lettered 'Poems'. Later numbered '107' in a series of pamphlet volumes.
