French translation of Bonaventura van Overbeek's Reliquiae antiquae urbis Romae, 1708 (q.v.). The manuscript was completed and the work seen through the press after his death by his nephew Michael van Overbeek, who was probably also responsible for the present translation, issued with the same series of plates. See BAL, Early printed books, no. 2347 for a description of the French edition published at La Haye in 1763 which closely follows the present edition.

Binding C18th calf, front and back covers with marbled central panels and borders, gilt-tooled rococo-style central ornaments, gilt-tooled borders, gilt-tooled spine, red morocco spine-label.
