Bonaventura van Overbeek's Reliquiae antiquae urbis Romae was first published in 1708 (q.v.) and translated into French in the following year (q.v.). The present volume, published to accompany Paolo Rolli's Italian translation of the text printed in octavo by Thomas Edlin in London in the same year as Degli avanzi dell'antica Roma (ESTC t100135), contains reversed copies of the plates. Giacomo Amiconi or Amigoni (1675--1752) worked in England from 1729 to 1739 and signs the dedication to Elizabeth Farnese, Queen of Spain where he later became Court Painter. The 148 plates are numbered 1--109, with bis plates 21, 46, 52, 53, 63, 65, 71, 73 (2), 75 (6), 96, 97 (2), and 107 (21). ESTC t141517.
