Anonymous. The author is identified in the text as 'Mr Bathoe'. This witty pamphlet includes much acid comment on poor building practices in London prior to the Building Act (1774) [12. Geo.III.c.73.] and on the responsibility of architects to design in such a way as to help prevent the spread of fires in houses. Also contains a detailed chronological account of the destruction caused by major fires in London since 1666, as well as in other cities in Great Britain, Europe and the colonies. With a final leaf carrying an advertisement of the stock-in-trade of 'J. Southern, Stationer, Opposite Park Place, St. James's Street'. ESTC t92165.
