Sir Martin Archer Shee was Soane's friend at the Royal Academy and his chief defendant in the dispute over the lectures. He was President of the Royal Academy from 1830--50. 'The following pages contain, in six cantos, the three remaining books of a poem, which was printed some time since, under the title of 'Rhymes of art'.' -- Preface.
