Drop-head title from p. [1]. This second series, likewise edited by Prince Hoare, was published after a lapse of over a year since the first series, published in 21 weekly numbers between April and August 1807 (q.v.). The Soane copy as described in the above collation consists of the first seven numbers only (out of a total of 20), forming the first of three parts, and is printed with continuous pagination and register (B--O4). Anonymous contributors include 'Philo', 'J.E.', 'Graphicus', 'T.C.', and 'J.N.'; Benjamin West responds to the Committee of the Northern Society for Promoting the Fine Arts. The first and second series of The Artist were republished together in two volumes in 1810.

Copy Notes Bound last in a pamphlet volume of works edited by Prince Hoare.

Binding C19th half calf, marbled-paper boards, gilt double-rule spine, black spine-label lettered 'Prince Hoare's Correspond &c &c', later numbered '31' in a series of pamphlet volumes. Bound by Edwin Hutchinson for 2s. 6d., 23 February 1832. (Archive 7/16/29 book binding).
