First published by Francesco Modena in Vicenza, 1776--1783 (q.v.) with the text in Italian and French. The Soane copy as described consists of volumes III and IV only, making up a set with volumes I and II in the first edition. The collation of the present volumes does not correspond to those described in the Cappelletti catalogue entries as the first and second printings of the 1786 edition. The Soane volumes have the following collation: vol. III: [A]2 B--R2 S1; vol. IV: [A]2 B--N2 O1. See C.I.S.A. Andrea Palladio, La raccolta palladiana Guglielmo Cappelletti del Centro Internazionale di Studi di Architettura Andrea Palladio di Vicenza (Vicenza 2001), no. 24 and 25.

Copy Notes Imperfect; volumes III and IV only, bound in one volume (see general note). Volume IV with a pencil sketch of a plan in the margin of pl. XXIV. This volume may be related to the copy of 'Palladio da Scamozzi, 4 vols. in 2. Vicenza 1786' bought in the W. Reveley sale (q.v.), lot 110 for £2 4s. on 11 May 1801, but if so, the set had reached its present configuration by 1837 when it is recorded as 4 volumes in 3 in George Bailey's inventory of the library.

Binding C18th 'catspaw' mottled sheep, blind-ruled and gilt roll-tooled borders, gilt-tooled inner panels and pomegranate corner ornaments, gilt-tooled spine, black leather spine-label. Bound to match the copy of volumes I and II in the first edition but using different tools.
