Douglas's Peerage of Scotland was first published in 1764 and reissued in 1768. A few copies of the present second edition of 1813 were available on large paper with first impressions of the plates (p. 2). Pages [5]--7 advertise 'a few remaining Copies' of Douglas's companion work The baronage of Scotland, published in 1798, and the final page announces the publication 'Early in January' of Sir Robert Gordon, A genealogical history of the Earldom of Sutherland, ... Published from the original manuscript.
