Includes a final page of publisher's advertisements. Lawrence's provocative political opinions on the superior facilities enjoyed by French science and on the scientific enquiry into the origins of man led to widespread condemnation, and the author was eventually obliged to withdraw the present first edition of his Lectures from sale.
