Jarvis's translation was originally published in 1742. Includes 'A Supplement to the Translator's Preface', in the form of an anonymous dissertation on the origin of 'books of chivalry', by William Warburton together, and 'The Life of the Author, Extracted from Don Gregorio Mayans and Siscar's Life of Cervantes' from the first quarto edition of this translation. (See notes to 1756 quarto ed., q.v.) ESTC t59888.
